Biography

An Egyptian actor, born in the Faggala district of Cairo in 1890, he studied at the French Frere Schools in Bab al-Louq and later enrolled in the Faculty of Law, earning a bachelor's degree. He was nominated for a scholarship to France, but his studies were cut short due to the outbreak of World War I. He began his artistic career with the troupes of Abdel Rahman Rushdi and George Abyad, and then worked with Youssef Wahbi in his troupe. He also worked with Mounira al-Mahdiyya, and starred in numerous films during the 1930s and 1940s, including: (Bisalamtuh Ayez Yitgawz, Al-Bashkawil, Law Kont Ghani, Intisar al-Shabab, and Al-Arees al-Khamis).
